Making a mark

September 14, 2010

This year’s PAs (peer advocates) have taken initiative to redecorate the Crosby Lounge. Previously a cesspit of cracked linoleum, dated upholstery and beige walls, last weekend the first-year girls painted one wall with their favourite quotes—song lyrics, proverbs, excerpts from novels, and the immortal wisdom of Calvin & Hobbes—so that they might feel more like the lounge belonged to them. The next wall was painted orange and filled with the girls’ handprints and names, to further personalize the space. So although the remainder of Crosby is in desperate need of its upcoming renovation, the lounge is now quite a bit more hospitable. Hopefully it’s a harbinger of what Crosby will be like after remodeling. Fingers crossed!
